Lindsay
August 15, 2013
I just met Lindsay a few days ago. This is her Senior Portrait session. Her mom ( Laura ) contacted me a while back and told me a little about what Lindsay was looking for and what was important to her. Nothing conventional, she said. None of the usual Senior Portrait stuff… Now that’s the kind of thing I want to hear when being hired ( smile ) Meeting Lindsay was wonderful in every way. Not only because she is beautiful but because she’s got character and strength and that’s something to be admired. In her mom’s words “… this year, she had spine surgery for her scoliosis. This has been a huge in her life for years and she is very proud and empowered of what she went through. Literally, she is proud of her scar that runs down her back. She feels “it makes her who she is” I mean what else can I say… Truly amazing. She now helps children who are going through this… We opted for a studio shot to photograph the scar that makes her “her”. I love the red velvet around her, there is something regal about it. There is a quiet strength. The exact way I wanted this image to feel.
The rest of the shoot took place at Lindsay’s backyard. It was an unusually cold August day and she was a trouper standing in the lake and being patient with me. As she loves the water it was important to have it as an element in her images. We did not exactly plan on Sunny ( her Golden Retriever) to be a part of our session but I love that he was around too… I think everything worked out just fine.
I am simply honored to have met Lindsay and have done these portraits of her.
